1999 InterClub Nationals Staff

Regatta Chairman: Jesse Falsone

Jesse began sailing ICs in 1995 and is largely responsible for the development of the Annapolis IC Fleet (now with 25 local boats). He was the regatta chairman for the 1996, 1997 and 1998 IC Midwinters in Annapolis. This "collegiate style" event (2 teams per boat) had 29 participants last year from nearly every active IC fleet. Jesse was also an active member of the IC Technical Committee, and authored the changes made to the IC Technical Rules in 1997. Jesse is also an active 505 sailor, serving as the 505 American Section Secretary. Jesse can be contacted at american505@erols.com.

Principal Race Officer: Alden Bugly

John Potter (aka Alden Bugly) is a dedicated race organizer on the upper Chesapeake Bay, donating much of his free time to providing excellent one-design sailing in Annapolis. His regular events include TESOD (Tuesday Evening Summer One-Design) which he runs for numerous one-designs from May through September and the Annapolis IC Fleet frostbite series from November through April. Bugly was recently the PRO for the 1998 Comet Internationals and the 1998 IC Midwinters at SSA. He was on the race committee for the 1998 J24 East Coasts and the 1998 Snipe Womens Worlds. In addition to all his RC activities he is an avid web site developer, where he publishes a wind prediction service, many regatta pictures using his digital camera, and a sailing column for the Annapolis Capital. Bugly can be contacted at bugly@clark.net.

Deputy PRO: Steve Podlich

Steve Podlich is a very experienced race organizer, running numerous national and international regattas (J/24 Midwinters, J/24 Worlds, etc). Steve ran the offshore sailing program at the Naval Academy for a number of years, serving as PRO for all intercollegiate big boat racing during that time. Steve then took over as the International J24 Class Association Executive Director, serving in that capacity for a number of years. Steve's expertise and wealth of experience is a boost to our race management. Steve can be reached at stevepodlich@mindspring.com.

RC Staff: Michael Higgins

Michael Higgins is the SSA Dockmaster and is a key race committee member for nearly every weekend race at SSA during the regular season. Michael will be manning the weather mark boat during the IC Nationals.

Web Page/Scoring: Alex Pline

Alex Pline will be developing the site for the 1999 Nationals. He has been sailing InterClubs for 3 years. Despite thinking he would hate sailing in the winter, he had so much fun sailing his first IC year in a chartered boat, he dug IC 675 out from a yard in CT and has been enjoying the low hassle, tactical racing in the Annapolis Fleet ever since. In the "off" season, he and skipper/crew Lisa Pline sail their Snipe. Alex also maintains the International Snipe Class and the Annapolis IC Fleet web sites.

On the Water Jury Chair: Ray Gauthier
