2003 InterClub Midwinters - Final Notice Of Race

February 8-9, 2002

Organizing Authority: Annapolis InterClub Fleet and the Severn Sailing Association (severnsailing.org)

Hosting Club: Severn Sailing Association, 311 First Street, Annapolis MD

Rules: The regatta will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2001-2004, the prescriptions of US SAILING, except as modified by the prescriptions of the IC Technical Regulations for the InterClub Dinghy Class, effective April 20, 1997, and the Sailing Instructions. The following rules are in effect for the regatta:

  1. All competitors shall wear life jackets at all times while on the water except for brief periods of time when clothing is being added or removed from under the life jacket.
  2. If two yachts have the same sail numbers, the yacht whose actual hull number matches that sail number shall receive priority to display that number.
  3. On the water judges may be used to enforce RRS 42 (Propulsion).

Advertising: This regatta is classified as a Category A event (Appendix G3).

Regatta Format: The InterClub Midwinters is a "collegiate style" event. Each boat shall be sailed by A and B teams consisting of separate skippers and crews. A single crew shall not sail both divisions. Both A and B divisions shall use the same boat/sail. Typically each division will sail two or three races followed by a short intermission to allow for the divisions to switch.

Entry: Entries shall be submitted on the Official Entry Form accompanied by the $50.00/division ($100 total) entry fee. Late entries will be required to pay an additional late fee of $5/division ($10 total). Entries must be post-marked by January 29, 2003 to avoid the late fee. Late entries will be accepted until 9:00 am February 8, with the additional late fee. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. The entry fee includes the following:

  • Continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings
  • Dinner and party on Saturday
  • Prizes for the top 5 skippers and crews in each division

Registration: Registration will be open Friday, February 7 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, February 8 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, upstairs in the Clubhouse at the Severn Sailing Association.

Measurement: It is the responsibility of every competitor to make sure his or her boat, sail, and equipment measure to the IC Technical Regulations for the InterClub Dinghy Class, effective April 20, 1997. Copies of these rules may be found on the Class web site (www.interclub.org). Sails must be stamped by your Fleet Measurer. Skipper and crew (in full sailing gear and with any necessary additional weights) must weigh-in before sailing. Measurement equipment and personnel will be available on site if required. The Race Organizers reserve the right to measure any boats at random during the regatta.

2003 IC Midwinters "Inter-Club" Boat Loaning Program: Historically, the IC was conceived to be a boat that sailors from different clubs could jump into at a regatta without having to bring there own boat - thus the name "Inter-Club". In keeping with that notion, the Annapolis InterClub Fleet is pleased to again offer our "Inter-Club Boat Loaning Program" for the 2003 Midwinters. We want to make the decision to come to our regatta an easy one. We will have a number of very competitive ICs for members from other IC fleets to use. Participation procedure:

  1. Register for the regatta. Entry fee must be paid to reserve a boat.
  2. Contact Jesse Falsone (jfalsone@csc.com) for a boat. The best boats will be loaned on a first-come, first served basis.
  3. If you want to fly down, we will pick you up at the airport and provide housing. We will shuttle you back to the airport on Sunday, Feb 8 after racing. Attempt to make flights AFTER 6 pm. Flights from Providence to BWI are cheap!
  4. Out-of-town IC sailors will be given first priority. Other interested sailors from the Annapolis/ Baltimore/DC area can be put on the waiting list by contacting Jesse Falsone. Any boat not already loaned by February 1, 2003 will be available to all with priority given to those on the waiting list. A list of available boats and a description will be available on the Web site.

Baby Sitting: Baby sitters can be arranged at SSA for a fee. Please contact at least one week prior to the event:
