2004 InterClub Midwinters
Notice of Race Posted
The Notice Of Race/Entry Form (PDF) is now posted. Please note that there is a $10 late fee if postmarked after January 30, 2004.
Why is this the best Midwinters on the Planet?
Provided the waters in and around Annapolis Harbor are still in liquid form
come February 7-8, 2004, (have we ever not!?) the annual InterClub Midwinters will once again be contested
at Severn Sailing Association. Start making up your teams now!
What's in store? The same great racing and great partying you've all
become accustomed to, and all for a low price. Soup and chili? Yep.
Multiple kegs? Of course! Great conditions? Well, no promises there, but
we haven't missed a day since at least as far back as 1996, and most series
have at least 8 races per division.
What's the same? We're using the same formula as in years past - short-course collegiate
style sailing, 3 races per round, lots of food, and lots of beer, all for a
reasonable price. We're also going to extend a special reduced price for
those college sailors and juniors who qualify (i.e. not on the government
dole). We've kept the entry fee at about $50 per division, same as the last two years.
Since 1998, John Potter has been our PRO, and is signed up again with his
team of experienced Laser sailors. Expect great RC work!
What's different than last year? We received a lot of sailor feedback from last (and previous) years, and we're using it to improve our event. We're bringing
back meat to the dinner menu, and those great pies for desert! Our boat
loan policy has some slight changes. Also, there are some mild
restrictions on sail/bow numbers (see the NOR), but you can still bring your own sail w/o
changng numbers. We've also included a special price for college sailors. Finally, since I'm a stickler for kinetics violations, we may
ensure fair play by having on-the-water judges - but only the best judges,
so don't worry! See the Notice Of Race (PDF) for details.
Back, By Popular Demand!
For those of you who raved about the great pies in years past, but were
disapointed not to get them last year, we will be bringing them back for
2004! Of course we'll have plenty of the great soups and chili this event
is famous for, and the same goes for the beer.
New Boat Loan Policy
We've always had a first-come, first-served policy regarding boat loans, but we are tweaking that policy a bit
this year to give preferential treatment to those who have been reliable in the past.
If you've been good to us by coming to the regatta
in years past, we'll be good to you by giving you the best loaners.
We'll still need your money up front, but we will be basing the boat loan
priority on your past history to some degree. Regardless, it's a popular program,
so the sooner you get your money in to reserve a spot, the better your chance!
